Berlin, Germany
A Ferris wheel, a limousine, a church, a TV antenna, a carousel... this is the heart of Berlin."I joyfully ran behind the lumberyard, wearing a paper tricorne and armed with a stick, defending Alsace-Lorraine, marching on Berlin, and conquering the world until snack time."
— Promise at Dawn (1960), by Romain Gary.
I love Berlin.
It’s a city I’ve photographed many times, a place that holds a special place in my heart.
There’s a unique dramaturgy to every situation, to each moment of life in this city.
To me, Berlin is a fascinating, vibrant, intoxicating city where one should be able to love. It’s melancholic, often sad, filled with dead hours but also moments of brilliance and illumination.
Berlin is both inspiring and suffocating, infuriating and exhilarating.
