Tonight, this drag queen will host a bingo event in a trendy bar in the capital. In her kitchen, she takes a moment to relax. It’s important for me to spend time with these drag queens I photograph across Europe, and to see them evolve in their personal space and intimacy. Why? Because being close to your subject helps you understand them better, and therefore, photograph them more effectively.
Drag queens face significant challenges in Hungary, where the LGBTQ+ community is not widely accepted. Discrimination and aggression force drag queens to hide extensively to live as they wish.
