Trakai is a historic village built and preserved by different peoples. Historically, communities of Karaites, Tatars, Lithuanians, Russians, Jews and Poles have lived here.
The main street of the Baltic city of Trakai, where this photo was taken, leads to Lake Galve. It is full of beautiful, colourful wooden houses typical of this ethnic group. The wooden houses in Trakai usually have 3 windows at the front: the first is thought to be for God, the second for the host and the third for guests.
