Without a doubt, one of the saddest scenes I’ve ever witnessed in my life.
When I arrived at this man’s apartment, he was sitting like this, wrapped in a blanket, on an old couch. He looked like a ghost.
He’s always cold, even when the weather is mild.
He has lost his hearing and can barely see anymore.
To communicate with him, you have to slowly write in the palm of his hand with a finger. He then tries to recognize the words and respond. He urgently needs surgery to save what little remains of his sight.
Thankfully, the Vatican-Lebanese association La Divine Providence is helping him with his medical care.
