Olot, Spain
A famous factory of saints that exports as much to South America as to the Vatican itself.
Large rooms are filled with Christ, Virgin Marys and saints, arranged in an anarchic fashion.
Their glass eyes make them incredibly human and give the whole a fascinating atmosphere...
These very special factories can be visited, and in Olot there is even a museum dedicated to these almost human wooden saints...
Photo published in the book ‘Catalogne’, by Gregory Herpe, published by Les Presses Littéraires (2015) and in the exhibition catalogue of the Musée de St-Cyprien following the exhibition ‘L'Odyssée de Grégory Herpe’, a retrospective of his work, from March to June 2017.
